Year One
Welcome to Year 1!
The Year 1 team includes class teachers Mrs Heaton and Miss O’Connell, , HLTA Mrs Schofield and Teaching Assistants Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Giblin.
Year 1 is an exciting time for the children. They initially continue to learn through play, before gradually being introduced to more formal learning in groups and as a whole class. They build on their learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage and become more independent learners.
We have some amazing topics in Year 1, including ‘Would you rather go to Africa or the North Pole?’, ‘How has flight changed?’ and ‘What’s it Like Beside the Seaside?’. We will have fun engaging in lots of practical learning in every curriculum area and we will have many exciting experiences such as going on trips and welcoming visitors to our class.
