Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to Mayfield Primary School.

Mayfield converted to an Academy, joining the Cranmer Education Trust, on 1st January 2016. We are proud to be part of Cranmer’s family of schools, along with The Blue Coat School in Oldham, East Crompton St George’s Primary School in Oldham, St Anne’s Church of England Academy in Middleton and The Brian Clarke Academy in Oldham (who will join us in September 2022). Our trust also comprises of Manchester Nexus SCITT and Northern Alliance Teaching School.

At Mayfield, we cater for pupils aged 3 to 11. We deliver a well-balanced curriculum with experienced staff trained to a high level. In addition to gaining language, mathematical, scientific, artistic, physical and technological skills, your child will build confidence, develop self-reliance, and learn to make decisions whilst developing the ability to articulate feelings and ideas. We attach great importance to the development of the children’s social and emotional skills and seek to enable them to build relationships with other children and adults, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and learn self discipline. We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities and experiences that will greatly benefit all children.

We aim to nurture a caring school with both adults and pupils supporting each other and the values of the school and our Trust. We provide high-quality pastoral support to our pupils and families, to ensure that pupils are able to participate and succeed at school.

We want our pupils to enjoy school and do well and there are many opportunities for children and young people to shine at Mayfield. Pupils are encouraged to participate in a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities to develop their skills, knowledge and talents. Pupils of all levels of ability are supported during their lessons to help them achieve their full potential.

Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour at Mayfield, with strong support from our school staff. We have high expectations for pupils just as parents and carers, rightly, have high expectations of Mayfield. We are committed to achieving excellent standards of attendance, punctuality and behaviour at Mayfield We are committed to equality and do our utmost to meet the needs of everyone within our school community and treat each other with respect.

We feel that your involvement in this process is crucial and we will provide opportunities to keep you informed about the ways in which we are working and progressing with your child. We are keen to have parental involvement at all levels and if you have any time to spare to come into school and work with us, you will be made very welcome.

To find out more please pay us a visit, it is only by talking to us and seeing for yourself that you will find out what our school is all about. We look forward to meeting you.

Kind regards,

Mr Couper-Barton
