Our Mission Statement

At Mayfield Primary School, we place children, our families and our community, at the heart of everything we do.

Our Mission Statement is:

Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow.

We believe that it is important to learn from the past and understand how people and events before us may have shaped the present and can inform our future.

We believe we should appreciate each day and live for the moment, by embracing new opportunities and experiences.

We believe that we have the ability to shape our own destiny and become the very best we can be and are meant to be.

We are proud that our Mission Statement is underpinned by the following Mayfield values that our children live and breathe in everything they do, in and out of school.

Through our Mission Statement and its values, we aim to:

  • Transform the life chances of all children and young people.
  • Build on the inspiration of Thomas Henshaw, who founded schools (our partner school Blue Coat) to provide education for the poorest children of Victorian England, at a time when the alternative was Parish Poor Relief or the workhouse.
  • Enable our children to become good people – good friends, neighbours, citizens, parents, whom we are proud to know.
