Freedom of Information

This is Mayfield Primary School's Publication Scheme on information available under the Freedom of Information Act

The governing body is responsible for maintenance of this scheme. ]

•  Introduction: what a publication scheme is and why it has been developed

One of the aims of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (which is referred to as FOI A in the rest of this document) is that public authorities, including all maintained schools, should be clear and proactive about the information they will make public.

To do this we must produce a publication scheme, setting out:

•  The classes of information which we publish or intend to publish;
•  The manner in which the information will be published; and
•  Whether the information is available free of charge or on payment.

The scheme covers information already published and information which is to be published in the future. All information in our publication scheme is available in paper form and some is available on our website ( www.mayfield.oldham.sch.uk)

Some information which we hold may not be made public, for example personal information.

This publication scheme conforms to the model scheme for schools approved by the Information Commissioner.

2. Aims & Objectives

Mission Statement

Our school aims to develop the fun and excitement of learning through an appropriately challenging curriculum. To achieve this aim we encourage a working partnership between home, school and the community.

Our school aims to:

ensure that the school is an organised, happy and secure place where children can

                    learn effectively.

encourage children to become confident, responsible individuals who have respect and tolerance for other races, religions, beliefs, values and opinions.

encourage children to work together and behave appropriately in a spirit of mutual respect and co-operation which encourages them to be responsible members of the school community.

to develop the ‘whole' child – emotionally, spiritually, intellectually and physically within a challenging learning environment.

strive for excellence in all we do in providing quality teaching and learning situations, using the best quality resources within the constraints of the school budget.

provide a rich variety of activities within a broad balanced curriculum which gives the highest priority to literacy and numeracy.

provide equal opportunities for all, irrespective of race, gender, disability or background.

ensure children have the knowledge and skills to participate in an increasingly technologial and rich environment
